In the challenging environment of the Somali Region, Green Scene Energy, in partnership with Balance of Storage (AG), successfully completed the Kurtunel Solar Minigrid Project. Funded by the European Union and implemented with support from GIZ/EnDev, this project is one of five similar initiatives demonstrating Green Scene Energy’s commitment to providing clean energy access in remote and logistically challenging areas.
The Kurtunel project boasts a 140kWp solar PV system, a 90kVA battery inverter, a 54kVA string inverter, and a 280kWh LiFePO4 battery bank—a substantially larger system than other similar projects. This significant capacity provides reliable electricity to a considerable number of households, overcoming substantial logistical obstacles to deliver a marked improvement in quality of life. The project’s success underscores Green Scene Energy’s capability and dedication to bringing sustainable energy solutions to underserved communities.
