FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia — Green Scene Energy PLC has officially inaugurated Ethiopia’s first-ever domestic induction stove assembly and manufacturing facility. This milestone marks a major step forward in transforming the nation’s clean-tech sector, bringing modern, highly efficient electrical cooking solutions directly to Ethiopian households, businesses, and institutions.
Supporting Ethiopia’s National Energy Mandates
The launch of this facility directly supports the Government of Ethiopia’s energy policies. Under the Ministry of Water and Energy’s National Clean Cooking Roadmap, the government is targeting a massive transition — aiming to scale clean cooking access across the country by 2035 while heavily curbing biomass reliance. Concurrently, as the federal government proceeds with its multi-year electricity tariff reforms designed to transition the utility sector toward cost-reflective pricing, the demand for highly efficient e-cooking technology has never been more urgent. By reducing power waste, energy-efficient appliances protect consumers against rising energy costs while advancing national carbon mitigation targets.
Introducing TOLO: Clean Cooking Built for Ethiopia
In direct response to these structural shifts, Green Scene Energy has introduced TOLO (ቶሎ) — Ethiopia’s first locally manufactured induction stove. Designed specifically to match regional culinary practices, the TOLO range delivers rapid heating, precise temperature control, and high energy efficiency, while eliminating the smoke, fire hazards, and indoor air pollution associated with biomass and charcoal cooking. Models span compact household units through heavy-duty commercial stoves for restaurants and institutions, serving both urban grid-connected customers and, paired with solar power systems, off-grid and weak-grid communities.
A Vision of Scale and Industrial Impact
“At Green Scene Energy, we believe clean cooking is a cornerstone of industrial empowerment and climate resilience,” said Rekik Bekele Ayele, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Green Scene Energy. “The TOLO stove is a technical catalyst for public health, environmental preservation, and structural job creation. By establishing our manufacturing lines right here in Addis Ababa, we are executing a clear path to produce 1 million induction stoves by 2035, building local supply chains, and driving down emissions.”
This landmark industrial expansion follows a sequence of major global and local achievements for Green Scene Energy this year, including:
- Selection as a Finalist for the LinkedIn Changemaker Awards Ethiopia under the Best Climate and Sustainability Content category, highlighting the company’s regional leadership.
- A high-level institutional visit to the Mastercard Foundation to explore strategic alignment regarding youth employment and socio-economic opportunities.
- Participation in a formal international business delegation to Germany to solidify advanced technical partnerships and clean-tech transfer capabilities.
