Green Scene Energy Inaugurates Ethiopia’s First Induction Stove Manufacturing Facility

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia. Green Scene Energy PLC has inaugurated Ethiopia’s first domestic induction stove assembly and manufacturing facility. It is the first plant of its kind in the country, and it brings efficient electric cooking within reach of Ethiopian households, businesses and institutions.

Built around Ethiopia’s energy policy

The facility supports two policy shifts already under way. Under the Ministry of Water and Energy’s National Clean Cooking Roadmap, the government is working to widen clean cooking access by 2035 and reduce the country’s reliance on biomass. At the same time, the federal government is carrying out multi-year electricity tariff reforms that move the utility sector towards cost-reflective pricing. Together these make efficient cooking appliances more valuable to households: every unit of electricity a stove does not waste is money a family keeps, and emissions the country avoids.

TOLO: clean cooking built for Ethiopian kitchens

Green Scene Energy has introduced TOLO (ቶሎ), Ethiopia’s first locally manufactured induction stove. It is designed around how Ethiopians actually cook. The stoves heat quickly, hold temperature accurately, and use far less energy than charcoal or biomass, without the smoke, the fire risk or the indoor air pollution. The range runs from compact household units to heavy-duty commercial stoves for restaurants and institutions, and serves both grid-connected customers in the cities and, paired with solar, households on weak grids or none at all.
