Green Scene Energy Selected as Ethiopia Jobs Challenge Fund Grantee

Green Scene Energy PLC is proud to announce our selection as a grantee of the Ethiopia Jobs Challenge Fund under Window 2 — the fund’s scale-up window for growth-stage and established businesses.

The Ethiopia Jobs Challenge Fund is implemented by the Ministry of Labor and Skills (MoLS) with financing from KfW, the German Development Bank, and the Ethiopian government. Its mission is to accelerate enterprise growth and create sustainable, decent employment opportunities for refugees and host communities in Addis Ababa. Window 2 grants are awarded competitively to established businesses that can demonstrate a track record of operations and a credible plan for inclusive job creation.

What This Means

For Green Scene Energy, this grant is a recognition of a decade of delivery — and fuel for the next chapter. The funded project will scale our clean energy operations while creating employment and skills pathways for refugees and host community members in Addis Ababa, building on our existing track record: over 160 trainees through programs with ADRA, Addis Ababa University, and TVET institutes, including renewable energy livelihood training for refugee communities in Jijiga and Addis Ababa.

“Clean energy is one of Ethiopia’s most powerful engines for inclusive job creation,” said Rekik Bekele Ayele, Founder and CEO of Green Scene Energy. “This grant lets us prove that refugees and host communities are not just beneficiaries of the energy transition — they are its workforce.”
